16th COSMO General Meeting: getting there

The 16th General Meeting is taking place at the town of Eretria in the province of Evia, Greece. Eretria is ~100 kilometers north of Athens. The meeting is hosted at the Negroponte Resort, a seafront hotel located 3.5km west of the town. Here are are some possible paths to the location from the Athens airport.

1. HNMS will arrange for bus from the airport, going directly to the hotel
2. Travel by bus from the airport to the Liosion station and board any Evian bus that passes by Eretria.
3. Take the train from the airport to the Athens Train Central (SKA) and switch to the train for Chalkida. From Chalkida, continue by car.

See below details for each of these options.

1. By prearranged bus

The HNMS' organizing committee can arrange for (at most two) buses waiting outside the airport terminal The ticket will cost 20€ to 25€ depending on the bus load (less price for more people). These buses will go directly to the Negroponte Resort.

• These are the currently scheduled times:
  - From the airport to the hotel: 7/9 14:30 and 18:30
  - From the hotel to the airport: 11/9 13:30 and 12/9 13:30
• Departure times may change slightly, depending on participation (if so, there will be a notification)
• Estimated time ~1 hour

Note: please indicate your prefered arrival and departure bus times in your registration form.

2. By public bus

First you have to take the expressBus "X93" from the airport terminal to Athens and get off the "Leof. Liosion" bus station. The long distance buses are stationed next to it (called "KTEL"). Go to the KTEL building and ask for information for the departure (tikets are available also within). Buses to Evia start from the Liosion KTEL station and reach Eretria through Chalkida. Both lines to "Aliveri" and "Kimi" go through Eretria. You have to get off 3km before Eretria at the bus stop in front of the Negroponte hotel (area of Malakonta village).

• Currently, departure times are 07:45, 08:15, 10:00, 12:45, 14:45, 17:00 and 19:00
• Estimated time ~3 hours

3. By train and car

If you are travelling by train, take a line that ends at Chalkida instead of Athens. Else, from the airport, get the "Kiato" line of the suburban train (called "Proastiakos"). It goes through Athens and reaches the train central, called "SKA". Get off at SKA and switch to the "SKA-Chalkida" line. The hotel is 15km east of Chalkida and can be reached only by car (taxi or any bus passing by Eretria (lines of Kimi or Aliveri)).

• The Chalkida local bus station (KTEL) is at a 15-20min walking distance from the train station. You have to locally ask directions for getting there
